Your Professional Driver coordinates pre-booked, non-emergency transport for medically stable passengers in Newcastle, the Hunter region and regional NSW. Passengers travel to and from medical appointments, rehabilitation sessions, specialist consultations, hospital discharge and facility transfers across the region and, where referred, to Sydney.
YPD provides transport, not clinical care. Drivers do not provide medical assistance, monitoring or personal care during the journey. This service is for ambulatory passengers who are medically stable and able to travel in a standard vehicle but cannot safely or practically self-transport. It is not an ambulance service and is not suitable for passengers requiring stretcher transport, clinical monitoring or wheelchair-accessible vehicles with ramps or hoists.
Bookings are coordinated directly with the insurer, scheme coordinator, treating provider, facility or family member arranging the transfer. After every trip, YPD issues a digital invoice and itemised travel record suitable for scheme reimbursement, case file documentation or insurance claim submission.
Non-emergency medical transport covers the movement of stable, ambulatory passengers between two points where the journey is connected to a medical, rehabilitation or health-related purpose and ambulance transport is not clinically indicated.
Journey types regularly coordinated by YPD include medical and specialist appointments, physiotherapy and allied health sessions, imaging and diagnostic procedures, occupational therapy and functional capacity assessments, independent medical examinations, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, renal dialysis, mental health outpatient appointments, hospital discharge from ward to home or care facility, inter-facility transfers between hospitals and rehabilitation centres, and ground transport from Newcastle Airport or Sydney Airport for passengers arriving on repatriation or medical escort flights.
Transport can be a one-off booking for a single appointment or a recurring schedule set up in advance for regular treatment runs. For passengers attending frequent appointments such as dialysis or oncology, recurring bookings remove the need for a new request each time.
Transport can be funded through a range of government schemes, insurance arrangements or employer programs, or arranged and paid for privately. YPD coordinates directly with whichever party is managing the booking, whether that is an insurer, a scheme coordinator, a discharge planner, a case manager, a travel assistance company or a family member. Full documentation is issued after every transfer regardless of how the booking is funded or who is paying.

Coordinated with support coordinators, plan managers and participants directly. Invoices issued per trip with participant reference and service details in a format suitable for claim submission.

Transport to chemotherapy, radiation therapy and oncology outpatient appointments. Often a recurring schedule across a treatment course. Can be arranged under a Home Care Package, funded privately or coordinated with the treating facility.
Ground transport for eligible patients travelling to specialist appointments in Newcastle under the NSW Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme. IPTAAS is a reimbursement scheme for patients from regional and rural NSW who must travel significant distances to access specialist services not available locally. YPD provides the transport and issues documentation suitable for IPTAAS reimbursement submission.

YPD covers local transfers across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, the Hunter Valley and Port Stephens, including all major medical precincts at John Hunter Hospital in New Lambton Heights, Lake Macquarie Private Hospital in Gateshead, Hunter Valley Private Hospital in Shortland, and specialist and allied health consulting suites across the Newcastle CBD, Hamilton and Broadmeadow.
Regional pickups from Singleton, Muswellbrook, Scone, Tamworth, Armidale, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey and surrounding areas bring patients into Newcastle for specialist appointments not available locally. For more distant origins such as Coffs Harbour and Grafton, transfers can often be arranged subject to advance notice.
Long-distance transfers from Newcastle and the Hunter region to Sydney are available for patients referred to metropolitan specialists, hospitals and assessment facilities. Full documentation is provided for each leg of the journey.
YPD matches the vehicle to the requirements of the passenger and the journey. Executive sedans and SUVs are appropriate for single passengers attending local appointments. Seven-seat people movers provide additional space and easier boarding where a support person, carer, case manager or mobility aid is travelling with the passenger.
All vehicles are air conditioned and maintained to a professional standard. Vehicles are not fitted with stretchers, hoists or wheelchair ramps. This service is for ambulatory passengers only and is not appropriate for passengers requiring wheelchair-accessible vehicles or clinical monitoring during travel.
Advance booking is preferred across all non-emergency medical transport. For regional pickups and long-distance transfers to Sydney, earlier notice improves driver and vehicle availability. Recurring schedules for regular treatments such as dialysis, chemotherapy or weekly physiotherapy can be set up so that repeat runs book automatically.
Every booking generates a digital invoice and itemised travel record showing the passenger's name, pickup address, destination, date and fare. These are issued to the nominated billing contact, whether that is a scheme coordinator, insurer, care provider, travel assistance company or the patient directly, so reimbursement and case file records stay complete without additional follow-up.
For organisations managing multiple passengers, including rehabilitation providers, home care operators, dialysis units and hospital discharge teams with regular transport requirements, consolidated monthly invoicing and account arrangements are available subject to approval. See the corporate accounts page for details.
Bookings can be made by the funding scheme coordinator, insurer, treating provider, discharge planner, travel assistance company or the passenger directly. For pricing, see the Newcastle price guide. To arrange a booking or discuss account arrangements, contact the team directly.
